MyMate – Terms of Service

Welcome to MyMate. By downloading, accessing, or using our mobile app or website (“Service”), you agree to comply with these Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read them carefully. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use MyMate.

1. Overview

MyMate is a mobile application developed by MyMate Limited, NZBN 9429052964442, designed to support people with disabilities in managing daily routines and communicating with caregivers. Our services may include content, tools, reminders, communication features, and access to resources.

2. Eligibility

You may use MyMate if you are:

  • Over 13 years old (or supervised by a parent/guardian)
  • A caregiver or authorised support person
  • Not previously banned or restricted from using our app

3. Use of the Service

  • Users may create personal routines, emergency contact lists, and daily tasks.
  • Caregivers may remotely manage a linked user’s routines with their consent.
  • Use must be lawful and not abusive, harmful, or disruptive to others.
  • You must not reverse engineer, copy, or resell the app or content.

4. Caregiver & Family Use

MyMate allows registered caregivers or support persons to access linked accounts. The user or their legal guardian must authorise this connection. We are not responsible for actions taken by caregivers using the app outside of our control or permission.

5. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login and device. Do not share your caregiver login credentials with others. MyMate is not liable for any data loss resulting from unauthorized access caused by negligence or misuse.

6. Data and Privacy

Your use of MyMate is subject to our Privacy Policy. By using the app, you agree to the collection, storage, and use of your data as described. If using the caregiver sync, data may be stored on secure cloud servers (e.g., Firebase).

7. Emergency & Safety Disclaimer

MyMate is not a medical device or emergency alert system. It is intended for guidance and support only. For medical emergencies, safety concerns, or critical incidents, users should always contact the appropriate emergency services directly.

8. Modifications to the Service

We may update, suspend, or modify MyMate features at any time to improve user experience, fix bugs, or comply with regulatory requirements. We will notify users in-app when major changes occur.

9. Termination of Use

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the MyMate app or website if a user:

  • Violates these Terms
  • Engages in abusive or fraudulent behaviour
  • Attempts to misuse or hack the system

Termination may result in loss of access to synced routines or stored data.

10. Intellectual Property

The MyMate app, logo, content, design, and all associated materials are the intellectual property of MyMate Limited. You may not copy, reproduce, or modify these without prior written permission.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyMate Limited is not liable for:

  • Loss or inaccuracy of data
  • Technical issues beyond our control (e.g. device malfunction, third-party outages)
  • Misuse of caregiver access features
  • Consequential damages related to app reliance or usage

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New Zealand.
